The last couple of weeks, I've been in a rut. It seems like I've been in a rut all year (will it EVER end?!) I haven't been doing much stamping.

BUT I have been working on organizing my work space. I FINALLY made divider tabs for all of my cardstock, and am in the process of covering my paper holder boxes with designer paper.

A project that I have been wanting to finish for a LONG TIME! It may just get completed in the next couple of days.

While organizing my workspace, I have been trying to figure out a solution for my ribbon. I have been on the hunt for some good ribbon storage. My search has been unsuccessful. Right now my ribbon is stored in a basket that sits on my table. It's too messy. I need something neater.I am on the hunt for something more accessible and more organized. I am trying to find something that will allow me to hang it on my wall above my work table. I want something that will allow me to easily remove a spool of ribbon if I need to, and something inexpensive. What methods do you use to store ribbon? Leave me a link in your comment if you have pictures. I would love to see. And maybe I'll copy and paste them here for others to get ideas.

I know it's been a while since I've checked in on my SBS5 sisters. I appreciate you all checking in on me, and I plan to go surfing soon!

Paper Bag Broom

The last couple of days have been crazy. We just got back from our trip, and moved right into Halloween. I wanted to send the boys with a treat for their teachers, and of course I waited until last minute. We, ok....I guess I should say I, made these paper bag brooms. I put them together this morning right before they had to leave, filled them with treats and called it good.

To make them: You will need 2 brown paper lunch bags. 1 Stick from the yard. Twin or ribbon. Scissors. Candy or filling of sorts.

STEP 1: Unfold one bag, and push the base of it out while folding in the left and right sides.

STEP 2: Using your scissors, cut the bag into thin strips, stopping just short of the base.

STEP 3: Take your second bag, and cut thin strips into only the top inch or two.

STEP 4: Open both bags, and place the second bag inside the base of the shredded bag. Fill it with candy.

STEP 5: Insert your stick into the bag and bring all of the shredded pieces of the bag up and fasten them with twine. Add tag.

A pretzle rod would make for a cute broom handle.

Here's what I've been doing the past week.

We did it! We took a full week of life off. Kurt had to present his research poster at a convention in Anaheim, so we thought we would tag along. And if you're going to be in Anaheim for a week, visiting Disneyland is a must. It was our first time visiting this Dream Palace. We had a BLAST! The boys loved it, and the rides were fantastic. The ambiance and environment truly were magical.

The park wasn't very crowded, and we got on every ride we wanted to ride on. The wait time was minimal to none, and we even rode multiple times. Thanks to all of your Disneyland tips, we were able to maximize our time using the Fast Pass and we downloaded Ride Max to help plan our itinerary at the park.

Things to remember:

* Jedi Training. We didn't realize that not everyone got a chance to go up and train. You get picked out of the audience. Owen had high hopes, and I really wanted him to get picked. I made a fool out of myself, but we got noticed out of all the other hundreds of kids and he was able to go up on stage and train to become a Jedi and fight Vader. He LOVED it!

*Even if your kid is 40" tall, it doesn't mean you have to take him on the ride. I must admit, having a 2 year old who is 40" tall is a plus at Disneyland. No waiting to switch off with your husband so you can ride too. Gavin was tall enough to ride every ride we went on except , Soarin, Splash Mountain (he was tall enough, but we didn't dare put him in a seat by himself), and Grizzly River Run. We took the kid on every ride that we rode except the Tower of Terror. (I couldn't even imagine taking Gavin on this ride-I myself almost pee'd my pants.) The thing is, you think since he meets the height requirement that it is all good, it's a ride suitable for someone who is 40" tall. Not knowing what the rides were like, going into them blind, I think he was definitely traumatized after riding the Matterhorn and Space Mountain. Poor thing.

* Mickey Ears are a must! Even if it costs you $45 for 3 pairs. (Ouch!) Of course my boys opted for the pirate themed ears. Complete with bandanna and earring. They do monogram them for free to lessen the sting though.

*Strollers. I have never seen so many strollers in one place. The weird thing was, I felt that my stroller and belongings were safe amongst all the other millions of strollers.

*Souvenirs. It's not everyday that you get to visit Disneyland. You have to get something to remember your trip by. The boys chose pirate swords for their souvenirs, I on the other hand opted for this super cute purse that I found in a shop near the Indiana Jones ride. Although it hasn't one Disney logo anywhere on it, the nice little O'Neill logo on the front will do just fine. (Insert big smile on my face.)

*Gavin pretty much had no "potty" accidents the whole time we were at DL. It was awesome!

*Top 5 favorite rides. (in no particular order) 1. Splash Mountain. 2. Space Mountain 3. Soarin 4. Indiana Jones 5. Pirates of the Caribbean.

*Weather. Perfect.

*Hotel. Desert Palms Hotel and Suites. Free Internet, free parking, fridge/microwave, affordable, within walking distance to Disney. Would stay there again.

We're Going to Disneyland!

We're finally doing it. We're going on a "real" vacation!!! Our bags are packed, and we're ready to go. In about 2 hours (at the crack of dawn) we will load up the gang and make the 10 hour trek to California. We're going to Disneyland! We've never been, and couldn't be more excited!

Workshop Card

Last weekend I traveled to Rexburg to do a workshop for Brittney. (Hi Britt!) This is one of the cards that we did. I wanted to show some of the new punches including the scallop punch-which TOTALLY ROCKS, and the square scallop punch. The scallop punch is becoming one of my new favorite tools! We also used the Say It With Scallops stamp set which goes with the square scallop punch perfectly. I love that Stampin' Up! chose this stamp set as their Ronald McDonald House charity stamp set. Who wouldn't want to buy this cute stamp set knowing that a part of their proceeds are going to help families in need?

Simple One Layer Cards

One of the free stamp sets that came in our bags at convention was Eastern Blooms. I love the flower branch in this set! I wanted to use this set at my last stamp club to demonstrate simple one layer cards. I came across some cards at SCS that I cased or used for inspiration. These are really simple cards. And what's great about them is you can switch out the sentiment to match whatever occasion it is that you need.

I LOVE the simplicity of these cards.

This card is one of my favorites. It is a very simple card, but I love the colors, and the white on the branches really make this card pop. I lined the branches and the center of the flowers with a white gel pen. You can't really tell from the picutre, but the paper is soft sky blue. This card looks much better in real life.

Cutest Bag EVER!

If you've seen the June??? issue of Stampin' Success, then this is where you've probably seen this bag before. I say June??? because I can't find my copy because my craft room is so stinkin' messy. Anyway, my upline's upline made one, and it was so cute and she said it was super easy.

I thought they would make a really cute gift bag for my stamp club ladies, since it was our last club meeting. I made 7 of them (one for me to keep). They turned out really cute, and they were easy to make.

First I stamped the stems using Old Olive Craft ink. Then I used Stampin' Up's! flower fusion to do the flowers. This is the first time I've used them, and I love them! Some I just put on using a brad, the others I found that using a glue gun works great and has a faster dry time than other adhesives. To adhere the ribbon, I used Stitch Witchery. Got it Walmart. It's a fusible bond that you simply iron on. And that's it! I might add that I got the canvas bags at Michaels.

I will definitely be toting this little beaut' around.

Inside I loaded them up with goodies. A personalized card, Ghiradelli chocolate bar, gum, sticky Post It Notes, and some Stampin' Up! chapstick.

Wild About You, Too

Here is another card using the Wild About You stamp set. This pink elephant is perfect for a little girl. The "cute" stamp, although retired and not part of the Wild About You stamp set, could easily be switched out for another saying. I used the new scallop punch and am loving it. It is so easy to use! Thanks to my upline, Courtney, who won this and gave it to me while at convention. Isn't she great!

BTW, I had my last stamp club get together last night. (sniff, sniff) Be on the lookout for the cute cards we did, oh and the dang cute bag that I made each of them.

Wild About You!

This is a quick 3x3 card that will be used for a boy birthday card. I stamped the grass background using the Inspired by Nature stamp, and I put my circle and scallop punches to use for some quick layering. Inside greeting says: Happy Birthday.

This stamp set is great! Not only is it cute, but it is a versatile stamp set. It is great for kid and baby cards.

Card Class

This Friday I am doing a Girls-Night-Out card class at church. The girls,or should I say Ladies, had the option of doing as many cards as they wanted choosing from 5 different designs. Along with stamping, there will be other classes going, food, talking, and just hanging out. A fun night away from the kids. These are the cards the ladies will be doing.

Cards For A Cause

Nie Nie Day

You may have seen the story on the news, or maybe even heard through this little thing we know as the blogging world. On Aug. 16, 2008 Christian and Stephanie (Nie) Nielson & Doug Kinneard, the flight instructor were in a plane crash in Arizona. Doug passed away after arriving at the hospital but Stephanie and her husband are in critical condition in the burn center in Phoenix Arizona. They both have substantial burns covering most of their body. They have months of surgeries and the medical bills are expected to be in the millions. They currently live in Mesa, AZ & have 4 beautiful children.

I personally don't know Stephanie or her family. I frequent her blog, and it is through this that I know her. She has the cutest family that she truely loves and a husband that she adores. Reading through her blog, you will get a sense of her humor, her creativity, and her love for life.

My heart goes out to the Nielson's and their family. In an effort to help ease the burden I am joining over 300 bloggers who are participating in auctions on their blogs to help the Nielson family out. This is a card that I demo'd for my stamp club. It uses the glitter window technique. To do this technique you will need packing tape and circle punches, or any shape punch you wish to use.

Step 1. I stamped the pink cardstock with my polka dot background stamp.

Step 2. I punched a hole out with my circle punch.

Step 3. I took some packing tape and stuck it to the back of my punched piece with the sticky side showing through the front of the circle. Tip: Don't get your fingerprints on the sticky side or your glitter will not stick to the tape, and don't lay you paper down on your table and put your tape on, or the sticky side will stick to your table and when you goto pull it up it will be stuck and will ruin your piece.

Step 4. Dump glitter on the tape and shake it around so it covers all the sticky tape. Dump the excess glitter back into its container.

Step 5. Stamp the image you want to show behind the glittered tape (or the glitter window). Cut it out so it fits bigger than your punched circle.

Step 6. Glue or tape the stamped image behind the glitter window onto the backside of the piece you punched your hole in.

Step 7. You can leave it as is, or if you want to do the scallop around the edge, simply punch a circle out of the cardstock you want to use. Then take your scallop punch and center the circle in the middle of it and punch it out. It will leave you a punched out scalloped circle.

Step 8. Glue the entire piece to your card front. The glitter window is supposed to be exposed.

This technique is always a hit. Everyone always touches the window. This technique looks really pretty using snowflakes as your stamped image for christmas cards.

Quick Card

A quick card to brighten someone's day.

I stamped the polkadot background with my background stamp. Then I embossed the little truck and flowers in black, layered it on white cardstock, added some ribbon and called it good. A quick and easy card. The inside reads: Thought you could use a little pick up. Love this stamp set!

ATC

Artist Trading Card

My sbs5 group did an ATC swap. ATC's are 3 1/2" by 2 1/2". Looking at the picture it probably looks like your normal sized card. This little beaut is pretty small in comparison to a normal card.

This was my first ever ATC. The theme was "summer". This is what I came up with. After I stamped the butterflies, I used my heat and stick powder and Dazzling Diamonds, to add some glittery shimmer to jazz it up a bit. Then I unraveled my ribbon to make the bow. To unravel the ribbon, I just cut the finished edge off of one side of the ribbon. Then I started to pull the ribbon away and it separates itself as you do.

Teacher Appreciation

This is what Isaac gave his teacher on the last day of school, card and "bag-a-lope" full of chocolates.

I love these "Bag-a-lopes" (bag made out of an envelope). They are so easy to make! Click Here for my tutorial. I stamped both sides of the envelope with my Polka Dot background stamp. (My new favorite background stamp.) Used my circle and scallop punches to add detail, threaded some ribbon and that's it! Oh, and filled the inside with lots of yummy chocolate.

The polka dot paper on this card is the Summer Picnic designer series paper. This paper is really fun. I embossed the saying, "Thanks for all you do." I love the apple stamp from the Tart and Tangy stamp set. Perfect for a teacher.

Mother's Day Card

Here is the card I made my Mom and my my Mother-in-Law for Mother's Day.

It is a pocket card and holds 2 inserts. One insert is for a written message and the other is a packet of flower seeds. I did lots of layering, sponging, and dotting with my markers. I love the way this card turned out. Appearantly so did my Mother-in-Law. She kept raving about how great it was, all the while my head kept growing in size. hee, hee, hee.

These are the inserts for the card. This was a fun card to make. I only wish I made an extra one to keep on hand.

Convention Time!

I woke up at 5 a.m. to register online for Stampin' Up!'s yearly convention. And I'm in!!! I am in track 2, and am super excited. My upline and her upline will be going on the same track too. I went last year when it was in Denver and just had a blast. Click here, here, here, here and here to view my experience. Since I live in Utah and only live 15-20 minutes away from the convention center, I for sure had to go this year. Can't wait for July!

Chalkboard Technique

On this card, I thought I'd give the Chalkboard Techique a whirl. If you've never seen it, your images are supposed to look like....well, you guessed it! Chalk on a chalkboard. To get this effect I used black cardstock and stamped my images with craft white ink. I then took a q-tip and loaded it with chalk (Stampin' Pastels) and colored over the wet white craft ink. When you do this, you see that it kind of smudges a little just like chalk does. To remove some of the excess chalk, I just took a tissue and wiped off what would come off.

To finish the card off, I stamped little flowers for the background and used my white gel pen to do the centers making them pop. I also added a black panel to the right inside of the card. Tied it off with some mellow moss ribbon and ticket punched the the corners of the front layer.

When doing the chalkboard technique, you can use a color other than black. It should be a dark color for best results, like brown, or burgandy.

Peppermint Patty Favor

I made these little favors for the ladies in my stamp club. I wanted to give them an idea for a cute party favor. In addition, something that was super fast and super easy to make! Stampin' Up! has fabulous punches that make these a breeze to make. I used the 1 3/8" circle punch, the 1 1/4" circle punch, and the scallop punch. I chose my colors, punched away, and then layered them. Easy, breezy, beautiful, right? They are a perfect fit for York Peppermint Patties. I must say I had quite the feat in getting the mints for my favors. Click here for the rest of the story.

Club Card

Tonight at club we are going to be learning different ways to use the Stampin' Pastel chalks. This card shows the chalks being used with a blender pen. I picked up chalk color with my blender pen and colored in the bird and the flower, making sure I "scribbled" the color off on a piece of scratch paper before picking up a new color. The card below is the one the ladies will make tonight.

Club Cards

Here are a couple of cards that we made at club the other night. A lot of my club members are new to stamping so I started off with something really simple. Yes, it is simple, but I LOVE this card. I love these colors together, and I love the Absolutely Fabulous stamp set.

On a side note: I know the girl who designed this stamp set. She works for Stampin' Up!. I met her last year when she posted that she was looking for a roommate at convention. (For more pictures click on the convention 2007 link on the right hand side of my blog under categories.) I got lucky and ended up being her roommate not knowing that she worked for Stampin' Up! at the time. Some of you may know of her. She has a blog that is absolutely fabulous (how convenient that that's the name of the stamp set). Check her blog out at kwernerdesignblog.

Now back to the card: This card was so fast and sooooo easy. I just stamped the flower from the Priceless stamp set on Whisper White cardstock using Chocolate Chip ink, and punched it out with my 1 1/4" circle punch. I put a brad in the middle and then layered it on pretty in pink cardstock that I punched out with my 1 3/8" circle punch, and layered that on chocolate chip cardstock that I punched out with my scallop punch. Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I put the saying You're absolutely fabulous on under the flower.

Still keeping it simple for my club members, I used the same flower but added to it and changed the saying. I stamped the flower in Pretty In Pink, then took my Chocolate Chip marker and colored around the outside of the flower to bring in another color. This is called the stamp to marker technique. After I got the brad in and the layering done, I took my 1/16" hand punch and I punched in the center of each scallop "petal". I used dimensionals to adhere it to the card. For the stem, I used Whisper White craft ink. I also used the same ink for the saying at the bottom. I added some Pretty in Pink grograin ribbon, rounded the corners off with my corner rounder and called it good!

It's rubbed onto me!

Blog Neglect

For the past little while I have been neglecting my blog......if you haven't noticed. I have been bombarded with sick kids and a clock.

All three of my kids got sick at the exact same time! Poor Isaac had a temp. of 104.9 degrees at one point. That was a little scary! They are all on the mend now and hopefully will be able to goto school tomorrow. Thank goodness for antibiotics!

Yep, if you didn't know it, I'm a clock maker-a maker of large wall clocks that is. I got a call from my friend's husband who really wanted to get his wife a clock for their anniversary. Well, he called me 4 days before. It usually takes me 7-10 days. So needless to say, I was busy working on the clock non stop.

Things have finally slowed down a bit and I am back in the game! Check back tomorrow for another post!

My Little Candy Cups

I decorated these cups to hold candy at a party I recently had. They turned out really cute. I saw the idea at convention last year. I tried to get a picture with candy in them, but all the candy got eaten before I remembered to take a picture-HA!

To make them, I took a paper cup apart, flattened it out, and used it for a template. I traced it on some patterned paper, cut it out and used red sticky tape to adhere it onto a papercup. I then used my coluzzle to cut a circle as big as the opening of the cup. Then I took my 1 1/4" circle punch and made a scalloped edge all around the outside of the cut out circle. I also used my 1/4" circle punch to make smaller scallops. After I got the scalloped edge all punched out, I slid it up from the bottom of the cup to the top. I then used my exacto knife and cut a small slit in the cup and inserted a paper leaf to finish it off.

I think these would be so cute for a little girls birthday party. Now if I only had a little girl......

I made this for a SCS sketch challenge sc163. It measures 5x5" square. I used Stampin' Pastels and a blender pen to color in the truck. I also used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to align the saying. I paper pierced around the two white panels, added some ribbon and a paper flower to finish it off. Emily, this one's for you. I hope you get feeling better!

Sucker for Preschool

Owen and I have been working on his Valentines for his class party. We chose to do suckers and cover them with sucker covers. Of course I did the majority of the work, but Owen was great at stamping and circle punching.

These are always fun to make. I guesstimate the measurements depending on the size of the sucker. You should cut your cardstock as wide as the sucker (and wrapper), but you should leave about a 1/4" of excess cardstock at the top for the ribbon. Sometimes I fold the top of the wrapper down so I don't punch through it.

Once I have my cardstock cut, I score it in the middle. I then punch a hole in the middle of the score line. (This is where you will push the sucker stick through.) I then take my hole punch and punch 2 holes at the top. (This is where you thread the ribbon through.) To finish the front off, simply embellish as desired. I used my circle and scallop punches. When mass producing, punches make it go really fast.

*Tip: If you don't want to use ribbon and really want to speed the process up, you can simply just staple it shut.

This is that it looks like on the inside.

CC153 & SC162 Challenge

I couldn't sleep, so I did a color challenge. The challenge was to use Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, and Kraft colors. I also combined the color challenge and did a sketch layout too.

I bought some paper prima flowers at the Target $1 spot the other day, and they matched perfectly with the Green Galore paper. So of course I had to use them! I added a brad to the center and adhered them with a glue dot.

I used Delight In Life and two step stamped the main flower, and then stamped the little circle background behind the primas. I used my 1/4" round punch to do a ticket punch on the corners. I then used my mat pack and pierced all around the card, and added some ribbon for added detail. To finish the card off I used my new stamp set, Absolutely Fabulous, that I won from my SBS5 sister Sue at Stampndaly. Thanks Sue! The sentiment says, You're so thoughtful.

Well, I'm off to bed. Going to try to get some sleep before the kiddos wake up!

Nugget Box

Once again I thought I'd try out untraditional valentine colors. I love chocolate chip brown with almost any color. It's one of my favorites!

I stamped the background using versamark ink and used my 1/2" circle punch to do a ticket corner on the heart layer. If you have this punch read my tip for getting 2 different puches out of this one punch.

Tip: On the Stampin' Up! 1/2" circle punch you will see an "x" indentation in the metal when you turn it over. (pic. 1) Simply line the corner of your cardstock so it fits inside the top portion of the x. (pic. 2) It will look like a piece of pie or an ice cream cone. Punch it out, and Wallah! you've just done a ticket punch with your circle punch. (pic. 3). Easy as Pie!

Donna's Paper Piercing Challenge

Donna's (sbs5 sister) paper piercing challenge was to make a card and do some paper piercing on it. The colors, stamps, embellisments, etc. were up to me, the card just had to have paper piercing on it. Here's what I came up with.

As you can see, I paper pierced the "butterfly tails", all around the butterfly layer, and I peirced across the bottom of the card and threaded ribbon through. I got the threaded ribbon idea from Kristina Werner's MAMC-ribbon flower. I don't know if you can see it from the photo, but I used certainly celery designer prints patterned paper which resembles a dotted "paper piercing" pattern, and goes well with my paper piercing.

I had a lot of fun making this card, and am pleased with how it turned out. I'm thinking of maybe using it as a baby card for a friend who just had a baby girl.

A little tip: When I adhered the green layer to the front of the card, I used dimensionals. I wasn't thinking and I put the dimensionals over the paper piercing I had done, and then I stuck them down. What's the big deal? You probably can't see it in the picture, but if you look at the card, you can see the dimensionals through the piercing. So don't cover up where you pierced.

Why you should organize your pictures

I finally braved my tote full of pictures stacked in piles. I found some pictures that I thought would be great to use with my Wanted Stampin' Up! set. (see previous post) So I shuffled through the pictures and began scrapbooking them. As I was scrapbooking, I swore I had a couple of more pictures that I remembered seeing that would be great to use. So I went back through my pictures, but I didn't see them. I must have just thought I had more pictures....

So I finished my layouts and was pretty happy with the end result. Now it was time to move onto other picutres to scrapbook. As I am collecting pictures for my new page, wouldn't cha know it, there I found 2 great pictures that I should have used in my last "Wanted" layout! Arghhh! I did go back and add one of the pictures, but it was too late to add the other without re-doing the whole page. BUMMER!

This is why you should go through ALL picutres and organize them FIRST!

Cowboy Up!

It's been a while since I've put some pages together. I finally got to use my Wanted stamp set from Stampin UP!. I found these pictures buried amongst the hundreds that are thrown in a box and thought they would be perfect.

In thinking of my layout and the techniques that I wanted to use, there were a couple of things that I wanted to try out. After seeing my fellow SBS5 sister's blog, Marcie, she had done a couple of things that I thought would be fun to try. Thanks for the inspiration Marcie!

One technique that I got from Marcie was to sand the edges of my pictures. This added a vintage/distressed sort of look to them. All I did was take a piece of sand paper to them.

I used the rock and roll technique on the word "Wanted" and sponged around it. Then I used my scissors to distress the outer edges. I did the same thing on the Cowboy Up layer. I stamped the background and used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to do the lettering. It probly doesn't show up in the picture, but I did paper piercing around this layer.

I distressed the chipboard stars as well. I inked them up with a sponge dauber using pumpkin pie classic ink. (Since I didn't have really rust ink to match my paper, I had to improvise-they are a bit lighter in color, but it was all I had. I think they work ok.) Once it was all covered with pumpkin pie ink, I stamped the paisleys over top, then I took a sponge and sponged the edges using chocolate chip ink.

As far as the layout goes, Marcie did a page where you use 1 photo and leave empty space around it. I love the idea of this as it highlights that image. So I thought I would give it a try. I found it challenging, as I thought it was "naked", but I love how it turned out.

I made this card today for a friend. I decided to use up some old paper (Loves Me Designer Series Paper). I love this paper. All of it is fabulous. I used the polka dots for the first layer. On the turquoise layer, I used my mat pack and pierced holes and did some faux sitching connecting the holes with my chocolate chip marker. On the close to cocoa layer, I used my crop-o-dile to do some dry embossing. To dry emboss, set the cropodile to an A1 setting. This allows you to emboss without punching all the way through your paper.

A tip to line the circles up evenly: Take the top of an order form and use the holes as a guideline. You can also use the eyelet holes on the mat pack to get even circles too. Another way is just to use the black block on the cropodile and line it up evenly each time. I always seem to start embossing crooked with this method. I opt for the top of an order form.

I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but I used my 2 way glue pen and added dazzling diamonds to the icing layers and the hearts on the cake.

I decided to add the "Happy Birthday Wishes" last after everything was done. I tried to line it up with my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, but the knot got in the way. As you can see, the greeting is a little off center. Oh, well, as much as it bugs me, I ain't doing it over!

Right now I am in Huntington Beach, California. Every year my sister and I come to California for our birthdays. My brother lives here, so we stay with him. My parents also flew in from Illinois to join in on the fun. We always have a blast. We always go out to eat at an authentic SU KIM Chinese restaurant, go get hour long massages at the spa, and goto the flea market. Of course there is a lot of being lazy going on too. So needless-to-say, there will be no stamping for me until next week, I will be too busy relaxing.......Aaaahhhhh!

Color Challenge

CC148 Challenge: Use the color combination Wild Wasabi, Blue Bayou, and Barely Banana

I found this challenge to be......well, quite challenging. You see, I have all the right color papers, but the only ink color I have is Barely Banana (and it is so light it doesn't show up very well). Needless to say, I had a hard time wrapping my brain around a good stamp set to use that I could use Barely Banana or Basic Black ink with.

My first card was just like the picture posted, except it was all done in Barely Banana and Basic Black. It just wasn't cutting it. So I pulled out my Brocade Blue ink, which I found to be a close enough match to Blue Bayou, and I re-did it.

This is my final result. I used Heat and Stick along with Dazzling Diamonds to add some bling to the butterfly. Now that I have found another color option, Brocade Blue, I may have to do another layout. I felt limited before I knew I had another color option, and the end result is .....just a simple basic layout.

I've caught the bug

So I got rid of one bug (the flu bug) and caught a new bug (the stamp bug). Stampy Stamperson rose from the underworld and stamped all night long! It was awesome! I did a couple of Valentine Day card challenges along with some other projects. Here are the cards I made.

I did a card sketch challenge for one card. SC157 Challenge. I pulled out a stamp set that I haven't used in quite a while, Loads of Love. It really is a great set. It is very versital, and you can do so much with it. In addition to pulling out a neglected stamp set, I also got out my Stampin' Pastels and blender pen and went to town. I used the blender pen on the truck and the hearts.

The 2nd card that I made is one of my favorites! It looks better in real life.

The challenge for this card was to make a valentine card, but not use the colors pink or red. I went for a distressed vintage look. I did faux stitching on all layers, as well as sponge each layer to distress. Then I crinkled the layer with the heart by wadding it up into a ball and then smoothed it out. I also used scissors to distress the edges of the heart layer. The word "Always" is going across the heart.

1. I married my high school sweetheart.

3. I have dropped in on a 25 foot cliff on my snowboard. (this was back in the days before I turned into a big fat chicken)

4. Two motto's I go by: If you're going to do it, then do it right. If I don't do it, who will?

5. Without fail, I fall asleep within 5 minutes of hitting my pillow.

6. I love food-chinese and italian in particular.

7. I wait 1 year to throw away reciepts or old bills or paperwork. I'm a nut, I know!

It's been a while since I have posted (if you haven't noticed). I got really busy right before christmas, so there was no posting done. And then we headed North to stay with the in-laws for the whole week of christmas, limited internet. And now we are back home and we are all sicker than dogs. It is awful being sick yourself and trying to care for your sick children as well. I am hoping that it will soon pass. Thank you for all the holiday wishes. I hope everyone is enjoying their new year!

Yesterday I broke away from the christmas cards and made a birthday card for a friend. Everytime I make a birthday card I always find myself saying, "I need a cute birthday stamp set." With the new catalog coming out I may just have to indulge. You can never go wrong with a birthday set.

I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line the presents up, and the corner rounder to make the scalloped edge.

Sweet Baby!

While at my MIL house during Thanksgiving break, she had a baby shower to go to. She was in a hurry and was digging through her cards and she couldn't find a baby one. She said, "Where's Kanani's cards when I need one?" So, I thought I would make her some baby cards and throw them in with her Christmas present.

For all my fellow SBSers group 5, a little bit about me......

I am 31 year old, stay at home mom to 3 rambunctious boys ages 6,4,2. I have been married for 91/2 years. (wow-it's gone by fast!), and live in Utah where it's freezing cold right now. I am a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and have been stamping for only a year and a half. Once I tried it I was hooked! I usually find myself stamping into the weee hours of the night, as there is usually little time during the day. I have always been a crafty gal, and I enjoy doing other types of crafts as well. My favorite color is purple, my drink of choice is Dr. Pepper, and I LOVE going out to eat! I dislike anything creepy crawly-especially spiders, doing the dishes, and hearing my kids fight.

Simple No Layers

This time of season is always busy. We forget that sometimes we need to simplify things. The last few days when making cards, I have been concentrating on details, layers, embellishments, etc. I wanted to crank out a fast, easy, cute, card for fun and to remember that simplicity in form can be beautiful. This is what I came up with.

This card took me.......2 minutes. And it came out fabulous!

The great thing about these cards is that they really are fast to make, and they are super easy. Think simple and see what you come up with!

Christmas Pocket Card

Tonight I have been working on pocket cards. I love these and the way they turned out! I am digging the Designer Series Paper. It is perfect for christmas!

These cards were fun ones to make. Nothing too tricky about these cards.

Cut a piece of cardstock just like you were cutting it for a card: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". Score it at 4 1/4" and at 1 1/4" from the edge. Fold on score lines.

Then using red sticky tape found on page 185 of the catalog, run a strip up each side of the card (run the tape up the inside of the short side after you have folded down the flap in front. Otherwise your tape will be showing). Red sticky tape is the best adhesive to use. It will give you a permanent hold.

Next cut designer paper to size and adhere to card. Cut inserts and embellish as desired.

I made 2 inserts for my cards. The white back layer pulls out and will house a photo, and the pullout with the snowflake tab will have a written message.

I hope you try this technique out. If you do, be sure to send me an email/picture with your finished product. I would love to see it!

CD Crazy!

The last 3 days, have been monotonous to say the least! I am in the primary presidency at our church, and we are making each child a cd with music from the upcoming 2008 year for their christmas present. I was put in charge of burning the music onto the cds. It's not that hard right? Just put a cd in, take it out, and do it all over again. ONE HUNDRED times! Yes, that's right, I burned 100 cds. Each cd took 11 minutes. That's 1100 minutes or 18 1/2 hours of burn time. Not only did I burn the cds, I did a cover and stamped a cute little frog on each one. Let's just say I am glad that it's over! Oh, we wrapped them all last night too!

What, you didn't know that you could stamp on cds?! Well, you can! To do so, you must use StazOn ink. You can find it on page 186 of the catalog. They come in colors of black, brown, or white. StazOn is great for stamping on nonporous surfaces. It is quick drying and permanent.

I made a couple of cds with christmas music on them for gifts, and I stamped them with snowflakes to finish them off. I know you can make a printed label, but I find that they always get stuck in my cd player. So stamping on them is a great customized alternative.

When stamping on cds you will find the surface to be "slippery". You don't want to push very hard and put pressure, or your stamp will slide and blur your image. Just a quick down up motion will give you a good image. I find that lined images work the best. Nothing big and solid. Stamping on a cd does not affect the playing of the cd.

Marathon Weekend

This last week has been CRAZY! Saturday morning Kurt's cousin got married, Saturday night I had a workshop, and Sunday we were asked to speak in church. Not to mention all the regurlar weekly stuff. It was a little stressful. But we got through it.

For Isaac and Owen's teachers, we made them popcorn sliders for their Halloween treats.

These Halloweeen Popcorn Pulls were created using the Creepy Crawly Designer Series Paper. The DP was cut 6 1/2" x 9 1/2", and scored at 2 1/4" and 6 1/2" to wrap around a standard size microwave popcorn pack. Mono adhesive (Snail®) was used the adhere the bottom and back seam, then the bottom was crimped with the Crimper. I created a band using the the DP as well, and used the tab punch for the pull.

Stamps: Batty for You

Papers: Basic Black, Whisper White, Creepy Crawly Designer Paper Series

Ink: Basic Black

Accessories: Crimper, Scallop Punch, 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" Circle Punches, Tab Punch

Here's another slider that I made, but instead of using popcorn, I used a hot chocolate packet.

This is made the same way as the popcorn sliders, but I altered the dimensions to fit the hot chocolate packet. Instead of using the tab punch as the pull, I used ribbon. To use ribbon, you simply punch a hole in the front and in the back center of the slider about a 1/4" from the
top. Take about 20" of ribbon and fold the ribbon in half. Place the hot chocolate down against the fold. Hold the ribbons AND the hot chocolate at the opposite end of the packet from the folded ribbon, and insert the packet with the fold of the ribbon into the sleeve.
Push it all the way to the end of the sleeve. Thread one end of the ribbon from the inside of the sleeve through the hole to the outside. Repeat with the other side. Tie the ribbons into a knot and trim. Simply pull up on the tied ribbon and the packet will just slide out!

Here's A Tip

People always ask me, "I never know what to do with the handmade cards that people send to me. I hate to throw them away, they put so much time into them . They are really cute, but I can't keep them on my fridge/shelf forever."

Here's my tip: Keep the one's that are near and dear to your heart. Put them in a scrapbook, or in your box of memories. The others-reuse them. Cut off the front of the card, crop it down in size and adhere it to the front of a new card. And TA DAAA! you have yourself a card ready for a written message and ready to be sent off in the mail. If it is a card that can't be cropped down or if it's one that you don't care to reuse, pull it apart and use the accessories. Don't let that hardware and ribbon goto waste!

Super Saturday

This last weekend we packed up and drove to Rexburg to visit family. While we were there I did a card class for my Sister-in-Law's Super Saturday. There was a great turnout and I had a lot of fun.

Until......

My wrist started hurting like CRAZY! It was there that I realized that I have CTS-carpal tunnel syndrome! I am 99.9% sure that my diagnosis is correct. They say that you should rest your wrist/hand for 2 weeks and support it with a wrist brace. TWO WEEKS?! I have been resting it since Sunday and it does feel better. I borrowed a wrist guard from a friend and it does help. My husband won't stop teasing me. He thinks it's funny and says that I have CTS because I stamp too much. It may be true, but the torture of his jokes is killing me.

Anyway......

I met some great people on Saturday. There were 2 girls Whitney and Brittany who came with their Grandma. They had a blast and it was fun to stamp with them. I wish I would have gotten their picture, but of course I forgot that I even had my camera until everyone was leaving and we were cleaning up. So I only have a couple of pictures. This here is the card that I made Kurt for his birthday. (For those of you who don't know, Kurt is my husband.) It was to die for! I dare say that it was better than The Great Wall of China cake at P.F. Chang's. And that cake is pretty darn good! Kurt couldn't get enough of it. He loved every bite of it! He is a chocolate lover. Or should I say chocolate addict?

It was my friend's birthday, so of course I needed something cute to put her gift in. I covered this brown paper bag with cardstock, and stamped the tissue paper to match. I also made a coordinating criss cross card.

To make a criss cross card: Cut 2 pieces of cardstock 5 1/2" by 4 1/4". Cut one of the pieces in half diagonally. I think you will be able to understand better by looking at the pictures rather than me trying to explain it. Lay your diagonally cut pieces like I have shown in the pictures below. Adhere the diagonal pieces to the cardstock only on the outside edges. (You want to be able to insert a card inside.) And that's it! Just make an insert and you're done!

Busy with Birthdays!

The last 2 days I have been busy with birthdays! One thing that I love is to make my own wrapping paper. Stampin' Up! makes it really easy using their Stampin' Around Wheels. They have so many cute designs and coordinating stamp sets to match them. To get the wheeled image straight the Stampin' Around Wheel Guide makes this a breeze.

It is similar to a ruler without the numbered markings, and it is raised up. You simply put the wheel guide on your paper and line the wheel up with it and run it across the paper keeping the edge lined up with the guide. Since I didn't have the wheel guide, I used the Perfect Layers tool, and it worked like a charm! I did try a ruler also, but it didn't work. The wheel ended up going onto the ruler because the ruler is flat and not raised up like the wheel guide.

I love the personal touch that handmade wrapping paper and a coordinating card add!

In honor of caner awareness month, I made this card for a friend's wife who was diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer and is getting treatments this week. I hope you all will find some time to help make someone's day by sending them a card!

I colored in the stamped image using a blender pen and Stampin' Pastel Chalks. The white strip was crimped using a crimper, and the black dot is not a brad, but a black dot punched out of black paper. All Stampin' Up! products.

Challenge Details: Card Sketch Challenge

Here’s how to cut it: After you score and fold (this fold is on the left side), remove/cut off about an inch from the right side of the front. This will now show the inside of the card when closed. Decorate that inside section and add your panel to the front of the card so it overhangs the edge. Please keep card in upright position.

I have a hard time coming up with different layouts. So I loved this challenge. This will be a layout that I will definitely use again. I will be giving this card to our neighbor who just left for California to be with her dying Mother. I'm hoping that things are going well for her and their family. On the inside of the card I sponged around the area where I will write my message. It matches the sponging on the greeting on the front of the card.

Phantom Ghost

The other night, we found a box of goodies sitting on our doorstep with a halloween poem. The poem basically says, You've been hit by the phantom ghost, now it's your turn to leave some goodies on 2 other people's doorsteps and run away before they see you. Put this ghost (pictured above) in your window so others know that you have been hit by the phantom ghost.

We made some Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars to take around. But of course I needed to make something to put them in. So, I got a large envelope and made a large bagalope. In an earlier post I did a tutorial on how to make bagalopes with regular size envelopes. I wanted to post a picture so you could see the large envelopes.

I did line the inside with wax paper before putting the cookie bars inside. The dropping of the goods and knocking and running was a success. We never got spotted. A fun thing to do with the kids.

Halloween Candle

A quick and easy way to dress up a candle. I punched the black cardstock with my circle punch, and used my crimper to crimp the Pumpkin Pie Cardstock. I stamped and punched Frank out in a jiffy using my circle and scallop punches and tied him on with ribbon. I used the Batty For You stamp set.

Going Pink for October

Altered Pringle Can

Today it was a gloomy day and it was SNOWING! Yes, snowing in September. Crazy! So, to cheer up my day, despite the mess that is still lurking in my craft room, I got my craft on. I am starting on my Halloween Decor. My projects will be based on the things Shelli showed us at convention. This altered pringles can with the firecracker topper was one. An easy project, but the crinckled paper topper took some time to cut all the strips. To get the strips to stand up, I cut and "X" in the top of the lid with an exacto knife and tied the ends off with a rubber band.

My Craft Room

I have slowly been getting my room put together. It's getting there. I have been organizing my supplies but as most of you know I am on a starving student's wife's budget and have had to get creative. I know how and where I want things to be. But it's the doing it without spending any money that is tricky. I have had and have seen some ideas and have implemented some of them.

One thing that I wanted was to get my supplies off my work table, but wanted them to be in arms reach so I wouldn't have to get out of my chair. I have 3 tables lined up against 2 walls to form an "L" shape. I will show you what I have accomplished thus far in my organizing on 2 of my tables.

My Main Work Station

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this set up! To hold all of my punches, I bought one of those cheap curtain rods at Walmart for 97 cents. Mounted it and taadaaaa! It works like a charm. It doesn't hold the small punches, so I store those in the bin on the table.

I don't have the color caddy to hold my ink pads and I was getting sick of them always sliding and falling when they were down on my table. Well, I was trying to figure out how to get them off my table. I had this old shelf that I have been carting around for 8 years that we've never used (driving my husband crazy). I flipped it upside down and mounted it to the wall. Flipping it gave the shelf two ends to hold the ink pads in, so they wouldn't fall off the sides. I knew if I held on to this shelf long enough I would use it some day! I love this set up. It is perfect! Right within arms reach.

I had this bin and it is perfect for holding my markers, adhesives, and scissors, etc. Things that I use all the time. Quick easy access.

This table is on the other wall just to the left of my work table. It holds some supplies and is close enough for me to grab them when working without getting up. There is still room on this table to work on if needed.

I don't have a ribbon keeper so I this is what I am using for now. (The ribbon keeper and the caddy are on my christmas list!) I have 2 wooden bbq skewers going through the middles of the ribbons to hold them upright. Yes, bbq skewers. The basket is one that I've had hanging around.

This is my scrap basket. I got this idea from my friend Angie. I keep all my scraps in large zip lock bags according to color. I have 3 colors in each bag. Then I just store the bags in this basket to keep them together.

I bought these magazine holders for 2 dollars each and am using them to hold my paper. I have decided to use my black paper rack to hold my 12 x 12 paper and projects. This gives me easy access without having to get up and get it.

I bought these containers at Walmart for 50 cents each. They were on sale. They are good for holding things that I don't use all the time. Like sponges, daubers, emboss powders, glue sticks, etc.

This is a ribbon keeper that I have, but it isn't big enough to hold my Stampin' Up! ribbon spools. So I keep non-Stampin' Up! ribbon in it. The card holder is really a picture holder that is a dollar store find.

And that's it! So far I love how my room is turning out. Finally, I have a space to stamp in that isn't going to be cluttered. I am sooooo excited. And the room is bright and cheery and it has 2 windows that look out to the back yard so I can see the boys playing. Sweet set up don't ya think? Catch All Room

After we got all of our boxes moved into the house I thought to myself, "My craft/stamping room is definitely the first room getting unpacked." Ha! Who am I kidding! My craft room has yet to get unpacked and has become the catch all room. You know the room where when someone comes over you hurry and throw things in, push boxes full of stuff that you don't know what to do with in. And now it is the last room in the house to get tender loving care that it deserves.

I am now to the point that I am sick of unpacking and the thought of unpacking another room makes me want to vomit. But since it's my craft room, I think I can hack it. Give me a few days.... It is semi-unpacked. I don't know if you're like me, but I can't stamp in a messy room. Just as I can't cook in a messy kitchen. You know, you have to clean it up first. I don't know maybe I'm just weird like that.

Here she is in all her messy glory. I am excited to have a room all to myself that is dedicated to my hobby!!!

One thing that I managed to to kind of put together that I am excited about is my new cardstock/scrapbook paper holder. I got this idea from my good friend Sarah. I still have some shelves to put on and I need to cut the excess zip ties off, but I am excited about it. This is a really easy/inexpensive way to store paper.

It's been a while and I know you have missed me!

Well, we got all moved in and we are in the final stages of emptying the last of our boxes. FINALLY!!! I thought they would never go away. I still need to get my craft room organized. I hope to do that in the next couple of days so I can get stamping. It's been too long!

Not only did we just get the last of our boxes unpacked, but we finally got the internet set up. It took them forever to get out here. I finally feel like I am back to normal. The internet is such a luxury and it was lonely not having it for 3 weeks.

WAHOO!!!

I just got my order in. Check it out! It is super cute. And I have some great projects planned to use them on.

I finally made it home from Denver and have set some goals and I am ready to get the ball rolling with my business. One goal I have set is to earn the incentive trip to Hawaii in 2009! Today is the last day of convention. We had another great general session. During the session they gave away 10 cruises to Bermuda. You had to be present to win, and there was one lady who was in the bathroom or somewhere and lost out. I was crossing my fingers, but unfortunately I was not one of the lucky ones.

This is a picture of Shelli the founder of Stampin' Up! It was great to see her up close and personal. She is very humble, personable, and very stylish. Everyone idolizes her. She is very family oriented and sincere. I took some close ups of her, but they turned out blurry, so this one will have to do.

These are a couple of projects from our watercoloring class.

We closed the day with dinner at P.F. Changs and then by going to awards night. It was great to see all the people that won awards and the dollar amount of the award(s) that they won. To close the show Shelli announced that next years convention will be in Salt Lake City and then brought out Ryan Shouppe and the Rubber Band to jam out to. A fun concert!

Today was another day full of classes and ideas. We started off with general session where we learned a lot of wow projects. We also heard motivational speeches which were very inspiring. I am pumped up and ready hit the ground running with my business. When I get home I will be setting some goals and planning out the next 3 months of my calendar. Stampin' Up! has made some changes to help benefit their demonstrators, and I am excited to take advantage of this.

Today was the day that I swapped my two 12 x 12 scrapbook pages and my technique cards. I got some really cute ones in exchange and I can't wait to get home and get my pictures on the pages. I am excited to get my scrapbooking classes up and going. It will be a great way to come have some fun and get your scrapbooking done. So be on the lookout for my scrap nights.

These are display boards that have hundreds of cards, scrapbook pages and 3D items on display. There are like 3 long rows of these boards.

For dinner we went to a great place called La Fondue. My first "real" fondue experience. It was very good and a lot of fun. I recommend trying it if you haven't.

Convention: Day 2

Woke up bright and early and headed over to the convention center to stand in line for the first general session. Once they lifted the curtain it was a mad dash for the best seats in the house. We did pretty good. Center section, fifth row from the front. Listened to some great presentations and got pumped up for the day.

During lunch I participated in my first organized swap which was the 6 x 6 scrapbook page swap. It was fun and I got a lot of great pages back. I can't wait to get my scrapbook put together.

After lunch we went to clases for the rest of the afternoon. Learned about marketing and product. We got lots of great ideas and got to see different product used in different ways. I have lots of new ideas to share. I am looking forward to getting my classes going.

On the way to one of our classes, we walked by a drawing that was going on to see if any of us won. And believe it or not, I WON!!! I was so excited. I never win anything. And this was a great drawing to win. I won $75 in product. I got 2 free stamp sets, a punch, 2 spools of ribbon and a ton of paper. It was so awesome!!

At the end of the day we picked up some Taco Bell and headed back and watched We are Marshall the movie. A very long, but fun day.

Woke up bright and early, had a fabulous continental breakfast and headed over to the convention center.

Todays agenda:
Get bag with free goodies.
Goto Momento Mall.
Goto Lunch.
Goto Stampin' Pajama Party tonight.

Got to the convention center and picked up our bag. It had 3 stamp sets, an accents and elements tin, a make and take packet full of papers and ribbons for all the make and takes, a water bottle, and a keychain. Fun stuff!

Stood in line forever, but finally got into Momento Mall to do some shopping. I didn't buy much, just a couple of cute ribbon keychains. It was a madhouse and a money pit! While waiting in line, lots of people were swapping away! There were even a few husbands going person to person trading cards. See honey, some husbands love their wife enough to attend convention with them. Just kidding, you know I wouldn't put ou through the torture. I did get some really cute swaps though!

We headed over to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. One of my favorite places to eat! I got the chicken fettucini as usual, and a slice of snickers cheesecake. YUM!!!

Got all dressed up in our pj's and headed over to the convention center for a pajama stamping party. We stamped for 4 hours straight and completed 6 projects. It was quite a sight seeing 2600 ladies sitting around in their pajamas stampin away.

Denver, Here I come!!!

So finally at 12:30 a.m. Monday-I was able to get to bed. I set the alarm for 3 a.m. but kept hitting the snooze button and didn't get up until 3:45. I hopped in the shower and got ready, finished up some swaps, did some last minute things; you know like take the garbage out, clean out the car, pick up....

Finally after a Maverik stop, which consisted of gassing up the car, getting a 40 oz. Mountain Dew and some chocolate donuts, I was off to Salt Lake to catch my 11:00 flight to Denver for Convention. It was weird driving by myself. It doesn't happen often.

Once I got to the airport, I met up with one of my convention roomates, Kristina. This was our first time meeting. She is great! We got to the Denver airport and had to trudge around with our luggage trying to find the shuttle that was to take us to our hotel. That airport is HUGE!!! And the luggage I had was some that I got from when I graduated from high school (15 years ago) and so it didn't have the handy little pull up handle that most suit cases do. My luggage was so heavy. It was awful.

We made it to our hotel. Which is the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. And we still have 2 more roomates coming. It will be nice and cozy. At least it has working air, a bed, and a toilet. I shouldn't complain. It's fine.

We just hung out in our room, went for a walk down by the strip mall, and tried to check out out convention center where Stampin' Up! would be, but they wouldn't let us in. So we went back and crashed and caught some shut eye, which was nice because I was so tired. So that was nice. And that's about it for this day!

Baby Shower Ideas

Today was my Sister in Law's baby shower. I helped do a couple of things for it so I thought I would share some ideas.

Scrapbook Page

I made a scrapbook page for everyone who attended the shower to jot down a note to the new mother to be, and to sign their name so she knew who came to her shower. Then she was able to put the page in the baby's scrapbook.

Party Favors

These are very simple, but can be a little time consuming depending on how many you are doing. I love these and make them all the time for different occasions. I've used them for baby & bridal showers, kid's halloween party, school parties, etc. I filled these with Hershey nuggets and Hershey kisses.

Now for my first blog tutorial!!! (I started to stamp in pink ink, but I didn't think it would show up, so midway I switched to black.)

To make these cute party favors you will need the following supplies:

*Envelopes 4 1/8" x 9 1/2" 1 envelope makes 2 favors

*Papercutter

*Cardstock, Stamps and Inks of your choice

*Ribbon

*1/4" round hole punch

*Decorative scissors

*1 3/8" round hole punch

*snail adhesive

Seal the envelope shut and stamp the envelope on both sides.

Cut the envelope in half.

With the sealed side up, and the opened end at the top fold both sides in about 3/4" and do the same to the bottom.

Reach your hand in and open up the envelope, with your other hand flatten down the end to make the bottom of your bag. This will leave you with two little flaps. Use your adhesive and glue the flaps down. Once you glue your flaps down your bag should sit upright.

Punch out thank you with hole punch and adhere to the front of the bag.

Cut a piece of cardstock 2 1/2" x 3" (dimensions may vary) fold in half and cut one bottom edge with decorative scissors. Fill bags with candy, etc.

Pinch the sides in at the top of the bag and close the top. Put the cardstock over the top of the closed bag.

Using the 1/4" hole punch, punch 2 holes for the ribbon. Thread ribbon starting from back and going to the front, over to the other hole going to the back, and crossing over in the back and back through the hole to the front. Pull ribbon tight and trim ends for a finished product!

Blurry Eyed

So I have been working on my swaps for the last 4 days staying up into the wee hours of the night, or should I say morning? I am trying to get them finished by next Sunday. Aside from general swapping, I have signed up for 4 oganized swaps. Organized swaps are specific and require your best work. I signed up for 2-12 x12 scrapbook swaps, 1- 6x6 scrapbook, double page layout swap, and 1- technique swap. I thought joining some scrapbook swaps would help me get caught up on my scrapbooking. They do the layouts and I just add pictures! Wallah! I am about 3/4 of the way done with my swaps, but they take forever and I still have a lot to do. Here's what I have been doing. What do you think? You never feel like your work is good enough.
